What is it?
Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD) is a procedure that allows complete removal of tumors and lesions without damaging the deep tissues in the digestive tract. ESD is generally preferred when the EMR method is insufficient.
How is it done?
The patient is sedated and the endoscope is used to reach the target tissue. During the procedure, the submucous layer is separated with a special cutting device and the tumor tissue is removed in one piece. This method is effective in treating large tumors or lesions that cover large areas.
In which cases is it applied?
- Large or superficial tumors of the stomach, intestines and esophagus
- Early stage digestive tract cancers
- Lesions too large to be removed by EMR
What are the Treatment Methods?
- Complete removal of cancerous tissues
- Minimally invasive treatment without the need for surgery
