What is a Transaction?
Total arthroplasty is the complete replacement of damaged joint surfaces. This surgical method is performed especially on large joints such as the knee or hip and is usually preferred in cases where the joint has lost its function due to severe arthritis, joint fractures or degenerative diseases. Total arthroplasty is performed to reduce the patient’s pain and improve quality of life by restoring joint mobility.
How is it done?
In our clinic in Çiğli, Izmir, we use advanced diagnostic systems supported by artificial intelligence to better understand joint problems and determine the most appropriate treatment. The surgical procedure is performed under general anesthesia (complete sedation of the patient). During the procedure, the damaged surfaces of the joint are removed and replaced with implants made of metal, ceramic or plastic. These implants allow the joint to regain normal mobility and reduce pain. After the procedure, a rehabilitation process begins for the patient to regain joint function. In this process, special exercises and physical therapy programs are applied.
What are the Symptoms?
In cases where the joint is severely damaged, patients may experience the following symptoms:
- Severe Joint Pain: Pain that persists even at rest and makes daily activities difficult.
- Swelling and stiffness of the joint: Swelling in the joint and stiffness in movements.
- Limitation of Movement: The inability of the joint to perform its normal function and difficulty in moving it.
- Difficulty with daily activities: Pain and difficulty walking, climbing stairs or sitting up and down.
- Deformation or sensation of fracture around the joint: Deformation, tenderness or a feeling of fracture around the joint.
What are the Treatment Methods?
- Surgical Intervention: The damaged joint surfaces are completely removed and replaced with an artificial joint (prosthesis). This aims to restore joint function and reduce pain.
- Medication Therapy: Painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs are used to control pain and reduce inflammation.
- Physical Therapy Rehabilitation programs are applied to increase joint mobility and support muscle strength.
- Artificial Intelligence Assisted Diagnosis: Artificial intelligence assisted diagnosis systems are used to accurately assess the joint condition and create the most appropriate treatment plan.
These treatment methods effectively solve joint problems, allowing patients to lead a pain-free and mobile life.
