Fracture Surgery

What is a Transaction?

Fracture surgery is a surgical treatment to reposition and stabilize broken bones in the correct position. These procedures support the natural healing process of the bones, allowing the bones to fuse properly and the patient to regain their former mobility.

How is it done?

In our clinic in Çiğli, Izmir, imaging methods such as X-rays and MRI are used to determine the exact location and severity of fractures before fracture surgery. Depending on the type and location of the fracture, the bones are fixed with internal nails, plates or screws. With minimally invasive surgical techniques, smaller incisions are made, shortening the healing time and increasing the precision of the operation.

What are the Symptoms?

Symptoms that may occur in cases requiring fracture surgery are as follows:

  • Severe and sudden pain
  • Swelling and bruising at the fracture site
  • Difficulty or complete restriction of movement
  • Deformity or deformation at the fracture site
  • Sensitivity to touch in the fracture site

What are the Treatment Methods?

  • Internal Nailing: Nails are placed inside the broken bones to stabilize them.
  • Use of External Plates and Screws: Plates and screws placed on the outside of the fracture are used to hold the bones in the correct position.
  • Crochet and Screw Techniques: Stabilization of the bone by using awls and screws appropriately.
  • Minimally Invasive Surgery: With surgical interventions performed through smaller incisions, the healing time is accelerated and postoperative pain is reduced.
  • Rehabilitation After surgery, physical therapy and exercise programs aim to re-strengthen the fracture site and increase mobility.
