What is a Transaction?
HoLEP (Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate) is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat benign prostate enlargement (BPH). In this method, the enlarged prostate tissue is cut and removed using a special laser called a holmium laser. In this way, the part of the prostate that narrows the urinary tract is eliminated and urination problems are eliminated.
What are the Symptoms?
HoLEP is used to treat symptoms of benign prostate enlargement. These symptoms may include:
- Weak Urine Flow: Difficulty urinating and slow flow of urine.
- Frequent urination: Frequent need to go to the toilet, especially at night.
- Feeling of incomplete emptying: The feeling that the bladder does not empty completely when urinating.
- Intermittent Urination: A condition in which the flow of urine stops and starts again.
- Urgent Need to Urinate: The sudden and urgent need to urinate.
How is it done?
HoLEP is usually performed under spinal or general anesthesia. The process includes the following steps:
- Endoscope Placement: A small endoscope (an instrument containing a thin camera and a laser) is inserted through the urethra (urinary canal) into the prostate gland.
- Laser Removal of Prostate Tissue: Using a Holmium laser, the enlarged prostate tissue is precisely cut and removed into the bladder.
- Removal of Tissue Pieces: The cut prostate tissue is taken out of the bladder and the procedure is completed. This opens the urinary tract and facilitates urination.
What are the Treatment Methods?
- HoLEP Procedure: This method, in which enlarged prostate tissue is safely and effectively removed using a Holmium laser, is an effective solution for the treatment of enlarged prostate with a fast recovery time and few side effects.
HoLEP is particularly suitable for treating large prostates and patients usually recover quickly after the procedure and can return to their normal lives.
