What is a Transaction?
Laparoscopic kidney surgery is a minimally invasive surgical method used in the treatment of tumors or cysts in the kidney. In this procedure, small incisions are made in the abdomen and the kidney is accessed with a thin instrument called a laparoscope with a camera at the end. With the help of special surgical instruments, the problematic tissue or cyst in the kidney is treated. This method allows for less pain and a fast healing process as it does not require large incisions.
What are the Symptoms?
- Kidney Tumor
- Blood in the urine
- Pain in the side or back
- Unexplained weight loss
- Kidney Cyst
- Most of the time there are no symptoms.
- However, large cysts can cause side pain.
How is it done?
Laparoscopic surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia. The following steps are followed during the process:
- Making Small Incisions: Several small incisions are made in the abdomen.
- Placement of Laparoscope and Instruments: A laparoscope (camera) and special surgical instruments are inserted through these incisions.
- Intervention of Problematic Tissue: The surgeon sees the tumor or cyst in the kidney through the laparoscope and performs the necessary intervention. The tumorous part of the kidney can be removed or the cyst drained.
- Completion of the Procedure: After the procedure is completed, the instruments are removed and the incisions are closed. Since there are small incisions, the healing time is fast and there is no big scar.
What are the Treatment Methods?
- Laparoscopic Nephrectomy: Removal of the tumorous part of the kidney or the entire kidney.
- Laparoscopic Cystectomy: Removal or drainage of a kidney cyst.
These methods ensure that patients experience less pain and recover faster. Since laparoscopic surgery does not require large incisions, patients can usually return to their daily lives shortly after the procedure.
